Companies House identity verification deadline
Enter your role and each company's confirmation statement date. This shows the date you need a Companies House personal code, and whether that date has already passed.
Your role
Use the month shown on the Companies House register for your date of birth โ this sets your 14-day verification window. Check at find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk if unsure.
Enter each confirmation statement date to see your deadline.

Verify with GOV.UK One Login
- Verify your identity on GOV.UK One Login with a biometric passport, UK photo driving licence, BRP, BRC or Frontier Worker permit.
- Companies House gives you a personal code when verification succeeds.
- Directors: the company includes that code on the confirmation statement. PSCs: enter the same code in the Provide identity verification details for a PSC service before the deadline.
Verify through an ACSP
- Ask an accountant, solicitor or other anti-money-laundering supervised firm if they are a Companies House Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP).
- Give the ACSP the identity documents they ask for. They verify you, and you receive a Companies House personal code.
- Use that code on the confirmation statement if you are a director, and in the PSC verification service if you are a PSC, before the deadline.
What happens if you miss your deadline: Non-compliance with identity verification is an offence under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023. Companies House can restrict your company's filings โ meaning documents will not be accepted. The register can be annotated to show non-compliance, which is publicly visible. Your company risks being struck off if the confirmation statement cannot be filed. Civil penalties of up to ยฃ10,000 can be imposed. Act before your deadline โ the GOV.UK verification process takes about 15 minutes.
Common questions
When must an existing director verify?
Provide your Companies House personal code with the company's next confirmation statement. If you are a director of more than one company, the earliest statement date applies. If that date is after 17 November 2026, the deadline moves forward to the backstop deadline of 17 November 2026.
What if I am a PSC, or both a director and a PSC?
If you are a PSC but not a director, you provide your personal code within the first 14 days of your birth month as shown on the Companies House register. If Companies House shows March, your window is 1โ14 March 2026. If you are both a director and a PSC of the same company, the PSC deadline is 14 days after the confirmation statement date. A statement date of 1 October 2026 means a deadline of 15 October 2026. You provide the personal code separately for the PSC role. Filing the confirmation statement early does not move those 14 days. The hard backstop is 17 November 2026.
I live overseas. Can I use GOV.UK One Login?
This checker shows the ACSP route for overseas users. An Authorised Corporate Service Provider can verify you from any country, as long as the agent is registered with Companies House and supervised for anti-money laundering in the UK.
Are corporate directors covered?
Not yet. Identity verification for corporate directors, corporate members of LLPs and officers of corporate PSCs is due later. Choose individual director or PSC if you are a person, not a company.
This checker is general guidance based on Companies House identity verification rules and is not a filing service. Confirm your own 14-day window on the Companies House register, and read the guidance at gov.uk or ask your accountant before you rely on a date.
